Trendspotter Nigel Carrier uses colour, kitsch and Chinese dragons to breathe new life into his flat for a festive party. At his neat, white-walled, split-level apartment in Fulham, he unveils what he refers to as “tasteful Buddha kitsch”. “It’s Taipei meets Hong Kong,” he says authoritatively. “It is also a very cost-effective way of decorating because paper lanterns are about 99p each and most big cities have a China town where these things can easily be bought.” The flat has a double-height, open-plan living area and the plain white walls provide a simple and unobtrusive background against which the decorations will stand out.
