1574 - To The Boat House

When builder and designer John Rolf decided to make his Isle of Wight boathouse shipshape, the job required an overhaul from bow to stern. To stabilize the structure, the frame was jacked up and a level foundation installed, covering the original slipway. The end wall of the building also finished halfway through what is now the living room, so Rolf introduced two old wooden masts as pillar supports and extended the room. “The colours we settled on are neutral because so much of the colour and embellishment comes through the windows from outside”.
