Victor Mutton and Alwyn Joyce bought this terraced house in Lewes, East Sussex in 1998. Since then, it has been gutted completely and transformed into a calm, collected space within which Alwyn’s family heirlooms and Victor’s collections of Whitefriars glass, Fulham pottery and 20th century furniture are displayed. Both have a creative streak, and together they produce painted floor cloths - the Georgian fore-runner of linoleum. The house is a melting pot for their individual enthusiasms and ideas, but retains a stylistic cohesion. Writer helenchislett@btinternet.com
