2336 - Tradition With A Twist

31 images 1 2 »

Sally-Ann Hart lives with her husband and three young children in a large Edwardian farmhouse in Sussex. Inside she has accentuated light-flooded rooms with neutral walls and floors. Colour has then been introduced through curtains, furniture and paintings. Fabrics are a particular love with toiles, linen damasks, Madras checks and heavy brocades add layers of pattern and texture. Much of the furniture has been handed down through the family, but Sally-Ann has been careful not to replicate the formal look favoured by her parent’s generation. Having given up her legal career to be at home with the children, she has found a “hobby job”: making plaster casts of children’s hands - a technique she first became aware of when staying with her sister in Switzerland.
