3082 - Artist in residence

The Somerset home of a contemporary photo-artist is firmly rooted in the past. Built sometime around 1710 it is one of a row of three cloth makers’ cottages and much of the original features and structure have been retained. Rather than paper and paint over the walls the couple peeled the back the layers to reveal the earlier surfaces leaving the shadows of old panels and patina aged surface exposed. The kitchen is a recent edition and the bathroom has been re-jigged to make it more practical. A single panel of vivid green hand made Oriental designed wall paper enlivens the upper landing.
