The jewellery designer and her husband share their rambling Norfolk home with her parents, and its five-acre garden with owls and marsh harriers The opening of Monica Vinader’s new jewellery shop in Central London in August was a typically star-studded affair. Models Jacquetta Wheeler and Jade Parfitt swapped notes with Prince Harry’s ex, Florence Brudenell-Bruce, while Kelly Brook rubbed shoulders with Kirstie Allsopp. All in all, not a bad turnout for a woman who ten years ago was selling her creations at a market in rural Norfolk. Yet 43-year-old Vinader is adamant that her distinctive jewellery is not a celebrity brand. “It’s about having something that appeals to you as an individual, rather than a shouty label,” she says. Much of the inspiration for her free-form shapes and delicate designs comes from the many years she spent travelling and living in remote parts of Patagonia and Mexico with her husband, Nick Zoll. But it was finally putting down roots in Docking, near King’s Lynn in Norfolk, that enabled her to develop her brand and expand her empire. Writer Vinny Lee - vinnylee@btinternet.com
