Back to the Future

Heard the one about the designer, the loft and the '70s chairs? Ann-Louise Roswald came up with a home full of groovy ideas. 'It was an intense time,' recalls Ann-Louise, 'But we're both pretty grounded so just got on with it.' This no-nonsense, roll-your-sleeves-up attitude is reflected throughout the apartment which, over the years, has developed a relaxing lived-in vibe. They may have bought a loft space, but not for them the style statement of clinical white and brushed steel. 'We wanted homely and cosy,' says Ann-Louise. And so it is, with lashings of deep red, sheepskin and aged pine, plus clashing graphic and floral prints that somehow work together to create a flat that's aesthetically pleasing, yet full of character.
