Swedish Design

Situated in the elegant and leafy north London suburb of Hampstead, this spacious family house bears the signature of the London-based, Swedish interior designer Mia Karlsson. It was designed for – and around the needs of – a young family with adventurous tastes and spirit. Colour and fun design were paramount in the layout of the interiors – as can be seen in the black and white dog print wallpaper, the Designer’s Guild furnishings in the formal lounge with fireplace, the spacious and sunny bathroom with marble tiles and a freestanding bath, along with the multi-coloured objects and furniture throughout. Many rooms are adorned with a typical Mia Karlsson design feature of a single wall embellished with highly decorative wallpaper, which sets off much of the atmosphere of the room. The large extension at the rear of the house, containing the spacious kitchen and the dining area beneath a skylight, leads to a beautiful garden, accessible via floor to ceiling windows.
